Hello wonderful people! I apologise for missing a weekend but you see, last weekend was my birthday! I turned 22 and it’s a very odd feeling, at 22 you’re definitely not a teenager anymore and you’re well into becoming a proper adult. I don’t even know how to do my taxes, please don’t make me become a proper adult! Anyway, onto my weekend!

My actual birthday was Friday the 14th, Nick and I went to a fancy Japanese restaurant called Ocha just near my house. I had teriyaki salmon which was by far some of the best salmon I’ve ever had! Nick had chicken which he thoroughly enjoyed. If you’re ever in need of a good bite in Melbourne East, I highly recommend it!

Nick told me he had a surprise for me the next day and after 45 minutes in the car (longer than expected as Nick’s GPS lied to him) we arrived at Werribee Open Range Zoo! I absolutely LOVE animals and zoo’s and this was my first time at Werribee. The zoo is made up of two parts, an area you walk around and the safari section. Some people don’t enjoy zoo’s because of closed in nature of some however Werribee’s enclosures are huge and the safari section is huge with many animals co-habituating.

This Gorilla was lounging around peacefully until a rabbit around the corner and scared the living daylights out of him, he jumped so high!

The tour guide told us that the Rhino were sitting like this so that they had all of their sides covered in the event of danger, how smart!

We spent a good few hours wandering around the zoo and enjoying all the animals, it certainly was a fun experience and I highly recommend it if you’re ever in need of something to do! Thanks to Nick for the wonderful surprise!

We ventured down to Williamstown for lunch before heading back home to get ready for the nights festivities!

I decided to mark turning 22 with a few of my Melbourne friends and head to the fairly new Holey Moley in Melbourne City that is as cool as it sounds. I need to state that despite saying I would win, I never thought I could actually pull it off….but I did! I was the only one to sink the ball in the 9th hole which was a Game of Thrones Iron Throne inspired hole (Nick was devastated and to this day I’m still teasing him about said loss)

I had an amazing weekend with all of my lovely friends, although I’m really not sure about this whole 22 business…

Anyway! Thanks for reading and I’ll see the next weekend! x
